Current masking rule

As of April 1, 2026, masks are not routinely required for patients, visitors or staff in Penn Medicine hospitals and practices.

However, anyone with a cough, runny nose or other respiratory symptoms must wear a surgical mask while inside the facility.

People with weakened immune systems are encouraged to continue masking if they wish.
