Orlando Health Bayfront’s online form creates an appointment request, not a confirmed appointment. Orlando Health says a representative contacts the patient within approximately 48 hours to help confirm the actual date and time.

For questions about a submitted appointment request, the published number is 321-843-2584. Some physician profiles also offer online scheduling or a “Talk to a Representative” option.

Outpatient diagnostic tests

For an ordered outpatient test or procedure, call central scheduling at 727-893-6044. Examples may include diagnostic imaging or other scheduled hospital tests.

Surgical specialties

Bayfront’s surgical program includes services involving cardiology, colon and rectal surgery, gastroenterology, general surgery, gynecology, neurology/neurosurgery, ophthalmology, orthopedics, ear/nose/throat, plastic and reconstructive surgery, thoracic surgery, trauma surgery, urology and vascular surgery.

One minor may generally accompany an adult as the second visitor unless the patient’s condition or treatment makes the minor’s presence inappropriate. Additional visitors can wait in waiting or general areas.

Before visiting

• Confirm the patient’s unit and whether the patient is accepting visitors.
• Plan to arrive during the 7:00 a.m.–9:00 p.m. inpatient visitor period.
• Follow unit-specific instructions for intensive care, isolation, maternity or procedural areas.

Bayfront and Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital jointly provide one of Florida’s state-approved Level III Regional Perinatal Intensive Care Centers (RPICC), supporting high-risk pregnancies and newborns with specialized medical needs.

Birth preregistration

Bayfront states that birth preregistration is now handled automatically through the patient’s OB-GYN office. To check preregistration status, call 727-290-1310 and follow the registration prompt.

Free maternal telehealth program

The hospital also offers a maternal telehealth program in partnership with the Florida Department of Health. The program is described as cost-free and supports virtual contact during pregnancy and through the first year after delivery for enrolled patients.

The complex covers a city block in the St. Petersburg Innovation District and includes an approximately 132,000-square-foot Medical Pavilion, a Women’s Pavilion and parking facilities.

Meds to Beds

Bayfront’s Meds to Beds service can deliver prescribed discharge medications directly to a patient’s bedside before leaving the hospital. The service is accepted by most commercial and government insurance programs, including Medicaid and Medicare Part D, although normal deductible or coinsurance responsibilities can still apply.

Ask your nurse during the hospital stay if you want to use Meds to Beds.

Laboratory

Bayfront’s hospital laboratory supports blood banking, chemistry, coagulation, hematology, immunohematology, immunology/serology, microbiology/virology, pathology and urinalysis.

Rehabilitation

Bayfront provides both inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation. Services may include physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech-language therapy, balance/vestibular rehabilitation, cognitive rehabilitation, swallowing treatment, stroke rehabilitation, orthopedic rehabilitation and specialized neurologic rehabilitation.

Inpatient rehabilitation candidates generally need multiple therapy disciplines and must be medically capable of participating in an intensive therapy program.

Other currently listed plans include AvMed, AmeriHealth Caritas Florida, CarePlus, Devoted Health, Florida Community Care, Freedom Health, Oscar, Simply, Sunshine Health, WellCare, WellMed and additional commercial or specialty networks.

Why you might receive more than one bill

Bayfront explains that patients may receive separate bills from the hospital and from professionals such as a personal physician, surgeon, pathologist, radiologist or another healthcare practitioner.

If you do not have insurance

Orlando Health Bayfront states that a patient will not be denied necessary medical care because of lack of insurance or inability to pay. However, uninsured patients may be asked for a deposit when admitted or when registering for a scheduled outpatient procedure.

Eligibility is based on factors such as household income, family size, assets and other financial resources. Supporting paperwork can include tax returns, pay stubs, bank statements or other documentation.

Orlando Health’s assistance policy applies to qualifying hospital services and Orlando Health-employed physicians. Contracted or independent/private providers are not automatically required to participate in the same financial-assistance program.

Option 1: request through MyChart

Unless otherwise requested, Orlando Health says records can be delivered through MyChart as a PDF that remains available for download for a limited period. Save the file after receiving it.

Option 2: secure online request

Orlando Health offers a secure online request process that verifies patient identity using a photo ID. The hospital states that there is no charge for this online request service.

Option 3: paper authorization

A signed Patient Request for Protected Health Information form can be submitted when a traditional paper release is preferred. Forms are available in several languages.

Orlando Health states that language and communication assistance is available without charge when a patient does not read, speak or understand English or when a disability affects communication.

Patient concerns or grievance

Current bed-count descriptions differ depending on the source and definition: Florida’s state facility profile currently lists 416 licensed beds, while Orlando Health’s own hospital description refers to Bayfront as a 480-bed hospital. The difference can reflect how licensed beds and broader facility capacity are counted, so this guide does not collapse the two figures into an unsupported single number.
