Nashville General Hospital: ER, doctors, clinic hours, costs, parking and patient services
Nashville General Hospital (NGH) is a public safety-net hospital at 1818 Albion Street, Nashville, TN 37208. The main campus includes inpatient hospital services, a 24/7 Level III Trauma Center Emergency Department, outpatient specialty clinics, imaging, pharmacy, women’s services, surgery and the Dr. Robert E. Hardy Cancer Center.
The important timing distinction is that the Emergency Department and inpatient hospital care operate around the clock, while most outpatient clinics keep weekday schedules. This guide brings the practical details into one page so patients can identify the correct number, clinic, physician group, parking area, price resource and patient-service department before arriving.

ER entrance security
Nashville General uses a weapons-detection screening system at the Emergency Department walk-in entrance 24/7. Patients, visitors, staff and providers entering through that door are screened. NGH says ordinary items such as phones can generally remain with you, although bags or metal containers may require additional screening.
How to make, change or cancel an appointment
What to bring to an outpatient appointment

- Health insurance card.
- Prescription insurance card.
- Referral or prior-authorization paperwork when applicable.

- Outside records, X-rays or previous test results requested by the clinic.

Visitor policy, ICU visiting hours and after-hours entry
Nashville General’s current hospital-wide policy does not publish one simple universal visitor-hours window for every inpatient floor. Instead, access depends on the patient’s unit and clinical situation.
After 9 p.m.
Visitors entering the hospital after 9 p.m. must use the Emergency Department entrance and receive approval at the registration desk. The hospital asks overnight visitors to minimize exits and re-entry between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m..

- 2 p.m.-6 p.m.

The primary support person may remain with the patient, subject to clinical restrictions. Only two visitors are permitted in the ICU room at a time, including the primary support person.
Children visiting the ICU
Children under 12 are generally not allowed to visit ICU patients unless Nursing Management or physician staff approve an exception.
Labor & Delivery / Women’s Health visitation
- Visitors must ring for entry and register at the 4th-floor front desk.
- Labor & Delivery permits up to four visitors at a time, subject to nursing/physician discretion.
- A new mother may designate one adult overnight support person.
- NICU visitation is limited to parents, grandparents and siblings, subject to the newborn’s condition.
- During RSV season, October-March, NICU visitors are restricted to people over age 12 under the published policy.
