Parkland became the first certified Level I Trauma Center in Texas in 1983. Parkland says its trauma program maintains 24-hour in-house coverage by general surgeons trained in trauma and critical care, with rapid availability of specialties including orthopedics, neurosurgery, anesthesiology, emergency medicine, radiology, internal medicine, plastic surgery, oral/maxillofacial surgery, pediatrics and critical care.
The Rees-Jones Trauma Center is Parkland’s dedicated trauma facility. Parkland reports that more than 7,500 injured patients are admitted for trauma care annually.

Parkland Burn Center
Parkland’s Burn Center was established in 1962 and is a major regional adult and pediatric burn center. In September 2025, Parkland announced that the center had again been re-verified as an adult and pediatric burn center by the American Burn Association and American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma.
The center treats more than 2,200 burn patients annually and provides emergency treatment, Burn ICU care, acute-care hospitalization, rehabilitation and outpatient follow-up.

What a written request should include
- Patient name used during treatment.
