The table below therefore focuses on currently surfaced providers with a Davis Islands/Tampa General Circle practice location in commonly searched specialties. “New patients” reflects what the TGH provider finder currently displays; it does not guarantee that an appointment is available on a particular date.

How to Make an Appointment at Tampa General Hospital
There is no single appointment desk for every TGH physician. The right scheduling route depends on the specialty and whether the provider is seeing patients at TGH, Tampa General Medical Group or a USF Health clinic.
- Identify the specialty or doctor. If you already know the provider name, use that exact name when calling.
- Confirm the practice address. An affiliated physician may have more than one location, and the outpatient office may not be inside the main hospital.
- Ask whether new patients are being accepted. TGH’s provider directory displays this for many clinicians, but availability changes.
- Ask about referral or authorization requirements. These may depend on the specialty and insurance plan.
- Ask for the earliest suitable appointment and exact check-in location. Record the building, floor and suite.
- Confirm cost/network questions separately. Provider participation and the hospital’s insurance participation are not always identical.

Pre-Admission Testing & Surgery: Exactly Where to Go
TGH publishes detailed instructions for its pre-admission testing (PAT) appointment. These are especially useful because first-time surgical patients can otherwise arrive at the wrong entrance or registration area.
- Arrive at least 30 minutes before the scheduled PAT appointment.
- Park in the visitor garage or use valet. The visitor garage is $3 flat with the first hour free; general valet is $5.
- Follow signs to the West Pavilion / Main Entrance.
- Report to Admissions/Registration in the Main Lobby, first floor, West Pavilion.
- Complete registration. TGH offers palm-vein identification during registration as an added identification/security option.
- Proceed to Pre-Admission Testing. A nurse reviews surgical instructions, and anesthesia staff may evaluate you.
- Complete ordered testing. Depending on the case, this may include laboratory work, an EKG or X-ray.
What TGH says to bring to PAT
- All insurance cards
- Government-issued photo ID or military ID
- Relevant lab results, X-rays or EKGs if requested/available
- Current medication list and dosages
- Over-the-counter medicines and vitamins on the medication list
How long should you plan?
TGH says a PAT appointment takes a minimum of two hours. It suggests bringing something to occupy your time and a light sweater or jacket.
Pre-op appointment questions:
(813) 844-7869
Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.
Day of the actual procedure
For procedures in the operating room or GI lab, TGH instructs patients to report through Admissions/Registration in the Main Lobby, first floor, West Pavilion, unless their care team gave a different location. Outpatient Surgery Center patients enter through the West Pavilion Main Lobby and are directed to the third floor.
Tampa General Hospital Doctor Fees, ER Fees, Case Fees & Cost Estimates
What “doctor fee” and “facility fee” mean
Professional fee
This is the physician/provider billing component. TGH’s MyChart information explains that professional billing primarily reflects the complexity of physician care.
Facility fee
This is the hospital/facility component and reflects hospital resources used to provide care, such as equipment, medications and nursing services.
Why one appointment can create more than one bill
TGH specifically warns that hospital patients may receive bills from multiple affiliated providers, and those providers may not participate in exactly the same health plans as the hospital.
| Type of care | Possible separate charges described by TGH |
|---|---|
| Emergency Department | Hospital/facility, emergency physician, pathology/lab review, radiology interpretation, EKG or other study interpretation. |
| Scheduled surgery | Hospital/facility, surgeon, anesthesia, radiology, pathology/lab and physician consultation charges. |
| Lab testing | TGH laboratory charge plus a possible pathology professional bill from Ruffolo, Hooper & Associates. |
How to get a personalized estimate
- Know the scheduled procedure/test or ask the ordering office for the procedure description or code if available.
- Have your insurance information ready if you intend to use insurance.
- Call (813) 844-8084, Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m., for Patient Financial Assistance/estimate help.
- Ask whether the quote includes only TGH facility services or whether professional services may be billed separately.
- For scheduled non-emergency care, also verify the individual physician/provider’s network participation.
TGH also publishes a Price Estimator Tool and machine-readable standard-charge information. Its estimator is intended to provide individualized estimates, but TGH states that an estimate is not a guarantee of the final bill.

|---|---|---|
| Charity | Household income between 0% and 300% of the Federal Poverty Level | TGH says the patient will not be billed. Eligibility may be considered for six months from the eligibility date. |
| Charity Catastrophic | Non-elective hospital charges are greater than 25% of annual household income | TGH says the patient will not be billed. |
| Uninsured Discount Tier 1 | Annual income between 300% and 400% FPL | Amount is equivalent to what TGH expects from an average traditional Medicare or managed Medicaid plan. |
| Uninsured Discount Tier 2 | Annual income above 400% FPL | Amount is equivalent to what TGH expects from a managed-care insurance plan. |
Services TGH says are excluded from this financial-assistance policy
The hospital’s current policy page lists exclusions including non-medically necessary cosmetic procedures, balances payable by other insurance, ventricular assist devices, transplants, elective procedures for residents outside Hillsborough County, bariatric procedures/education/nutritional supplements and certain high-cost drugs unless needed to treat an emergency medical condition under EMTALA.

TGH notes that some tests may require a 12-hour fast, including certain BMP, CMP, glucose, lipid, HDL, triglyceride and cryoglobulin testing. However, the hospital specifically says fasting and other special instructions must come from the ordering physician. Do not decide to fast simply because a test name appears in a general list.
Bringing outside imaging to TGH
If imaging was performed elsewhere, TGH recommends arranging for those images and reports to be available before the appointment. CDs are accepted when necessary. Bringing previous studies can help the imaging or specialty team compare prior and current findings.

How This Tampa General Guide Was Verified
This page was checked against current Tampa General Hospital information available on August 18, 2026, including the TGH fact sheet, hospital directory, Emergency Services Institute, Davis Islands parking instructions, campus map, visitation policy, pre-admission instructions, provider and location finder, billing/insurance pages, hospital charge and estimate resources, financial-assistance policy, medical-record procedures, MyChart, laboratory, imaging, pharmacy, accessibility, discharge and patient-services information.
Operational information can change. Live actions such as selecting an actual appointment time, obtaining a personalized price quote, submitting a medical-record request or paying a bill still require the secure hospital system.
Frequently Asked Questions About Tampa General Hospital
1. What is the address and phone number for Tampa General Hospital?
The main Davis Islands campus is at 1 Tampa General Circle, Tampa, FL 33606-3571. The main switchboard is (813) 844-7000, and the toll-free number is (866) 844-1411.
2. Is the Tampa General Hospital emergency room open 24 hours?
Yes. Tampa General’s Davis Islands Emergency & Trauma Center operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. Patients arriving by car for emergency care should follow signs to the Emergency & Trauma Center; TGH states that complimentary valet is provided for ER arrivals by car.
3. How much does a Tampa General Hospital emergency room visit cost?
TGH does not publish one fixed ER fee. The total depends on the services used, insurance and other factors. An ER visit can result in separate hospital, emergency-physician, radiology, pathology/lab and other professional charges. For scheduled-service estimates, TGH Patient Financial Assistance is available at (813) 844-8084.
4. How much does it cost to see a doctor at Tampa General Hospital?
There is no single published TGH doctor consultation fee. A visit can include professional and facility charges, and patient responsibility varies by provider, service and insurance plan. Ask the clinic about professional charges and use TGH’s estimate resources for applicable hospital charges.
5. What days and times do Tampa General doctors see patients?
Individual physician schedules are generally not published as a permanent weekly timetable. Several Davis Islands clinics publish office hours—commonly Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.—but a specific doctor’s appointment days must be confirmed through live booking or the clinic scheduler. The TGH Outpatient Burn Clinic is one exception that publicly lists recurring clinic days: Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.

7. What are Tampa General Hospital visiting hours?

9. What insurance does Tampa General Hospital accept?
TGH currently lists numerous commercial, Medicare Advantage, Medicare Supplement, Medicaid, Marketplace and government plans, including major payers such as Aetna, Florida Blue, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, Humana and others. Patients should verify the exact plan product and individual provider because affiliated physicians may participate in different networks.
10. Does Tampa General Hospital offer financial assistance?
Yes. TGH states that qualifying households at 0%-300% of the Federal Poverty Level may receive charity care with no bill, while other uninsured discount tiers apply above that range. Catastrophic charity assistance may also apply when non-elective hospital charges exceed 25% of annual household income. Call (813) 844-8084 for current eligibility assistance.
