So what are Banfield’s emergency hours?

There is no national Banfield emergency-department schedule because normal Banfield hospitals are primarily preventive/general veterinary practices. An individual hospital may be able to assess some urgent problems while it is open, depending on staffing, appointment load and what the pet needs.

Does Banfield publish an emergency examination fee?

Banfield does not publish one nationwide “emergency fee.” A local Banfield office visit is priced by branch, while true emergency and specialty cases may be directed to an emergency or specialty veterinary hospital.

Important Wellness Plan emergency benefit

Current Optimum Wellness Plans include one waived emergency or specialty-care exam fee at participating BluePearl Pet Hospitals or VCA Animal Hospitals, with a stated value of up to $300.

This is an exam-fee waiver. It does not mean an emergency hospitalization, imaging, surgery, medications, laboratory testing or other treatment is free.

How much is the OWP discount?

Banfield currently says the discount on many products and services not included in the plan ranges from 5% to 15%, depending on the plan.

It applies to many non-plan Banfield services, parasite-control products and prescriptions. Banfield specifically identifies therapeutic diets and PetSmart services or merchandise among exclusions.

How monthly payments work

When a client chooses monthly payments, Banfield says the first payment and applicable one-time enrollment fee are due when enrollment is confirmed. Remaining payment dates can be set for the 5th, 12th, 19th or 26th of the month.

Is there interest on the 12 payments?

Banfield describes the 12-payment option as monthly installments with no interest fees.

What happens if you cancel early?

Banfield describes OWPs as annual commitments. Its budgeting guidance says that if you cancel early, you can be responsible for the retail value of services already used during the plan year, minus what you have already paid toward the plan.

That makes cancellation different from simply stopping a month-to-month subscription.

What if a pet dies while the plan is active?

Banfield tells clients to contact the plan team to discuss cancellation and any remaining balance. The published cancellation/general-question number is 888-649-2716.

Does Banfield accept pet insurance?

Yes. Banfield currently states that its hospitals accept most pet insurance plans.

Banfield location pages state that free interpretation is available for more than 350 languages, including ASL, through phone or video interpretation. Tell the hospital before the appointment when possible.

Parking is location-specific because Banfield hospitals operate in several formats. Many are inside PetSmart locations; others are in standalone or other retail settings.

If your pet has mobility problems

Call the individual hospital before arriving and ask which entrance is easiest. This is especially useful for large dogs with orthopedic problems, pets recovering from surgery, anxious animals, or owners who need accessible parking.

When Banfield is inside PetSmart, do not assume the veterinary hospital’s hours match PetSmart’s retail hours. Park for the store location, enter through the appropriate customer entrance and follow Banfield signs inside unless the local hospital gives different instructions.
