What happens when you arrive?

Triage. Emergency staff assess how sick or injured your child is.
More critical children are prioritized. ER treatment is based on medical urgency rather than strictly on arrival order.
Pediatric evaluation. The child is evaluated by an emergency clinician and pediatric nursing team.
Testing and treatment. Depending on the problem, this may include laboratory testing, X-ray, ultrasound, CT, medication, IV treatment, specialist consultation or other emergency services.
Discharge or admission. Children may go home, be admitted at West Campus or be transferred to another Texas Children’s service when more specialized care is required.

Texas Children’s does not publish one universal West Campus emergency-room price because the final amount depends on the evaluation, diagnostics, medications, procedures, professional services and insurance. Emergency care does not require prior insurance authorization.
