Full-time, part-time and pool/PRN opportunities can be available across nursing specialties.

Contract Nursing

InterHealth currently advertises selected 12-week nursing contracts with a different compensation model.

Which Tampa General employer should you search?

TGH is now an academic health system with multiple employing organizations. A job listed under one entity may use a different application portal or benefits package.

Organization Typical opportunities
Tampa General Hospital Main-campus hospital, inpatient nursing, surgery, critical care, imaging, laboratory, corporate, operational and support jobs.
TGH North TGH Brooksville, TGH Spring Hill, TGH Crystal River and associated physician clinics/outpatient services.
USF Tampa General Physicians Academic physician-practice clinical and non-clinical roles.
Tampa General Medical Group Physician-practice and ambulatory clinical positions across the Tampa Bay region.
InterHealth Medical Staffing Solutions Staffing, float-team, contract nursing and other flexible workforce models.
Benefits are not identical across every TGH entity. Read the exact benefits and employer name shown in the individual job posting before comparing two positions.

How to apply for a Tampa General Hospital job

Open the official TGH job-search portal. Search by keyword, job number, organization, location or job field.
Filter by schedule. The current Taleo system supports filters for full-time, part-time and per diem/pool work.
Filter by shift. Current filters include day, evening, night, weekend and variable schedules.
Open the full job description. Review required experience, education, licenses, certifications, schedule, entity and any technical requirements.
Create or sign into your candidate account. Returning applicants should reuse the same candidate account rather than creating duplicate profiles.
Upload a detailed résumé. TGH specifically describes uploading a detailed résumé as a best practice.
Complete every required application field. Do not assume the résumé replaces the online education, employment and license/certification fields.
Submit and verify completion. Check My Jobpage afterward. If the application appears only under Draft Submissions, TGH says you have not officially applied.

What information should you prepare before applying?

TGH’s recruiting guidance recommends having detailed education, employment and credential information ready before beginning the online application.

  • School name.
  • Degree or program.
  • Dates attended or completed.
  • GPA when requested.
  • Honor societies.
  • Relevant extracurricular activities.

  • Reason for leaving.
  • Permission to contact employer.

  • Issuing organization or state.
  • Date earned.
  • Current status.

Documents

  • Detailed résumé.
  • Required professional license details.
  • Certification information.
  • Reference details if later requested.

How to check your Tampa General application status

You do not need to submit another application just to see whether the first one is still active. TGH’s Taleo candidate system shows submission status in real time.

Sign into the same candidate account used to apply.
Open “My Jobpage.”
Look under Completed Submissions. This section shows jobs for which your application was officially submitted.
Read the position and submission status. Taleo displays the current status associated with your application.
If you only see Draft Submissions, finish the application. TGH specifically notes that a draft does not count as an official application.
Need a human contact? Call People & Talent at 813-844-7551 or email JoinOurTeam@tgh.org.

TGH interview and candidate-selection process

TGH says its recruiters review job applications on the same day they are received. That does not guarantee same-day contact, but it means applications enter recruiter review quickly.

Recruiter reviews the application. The recruiter compares education, credentials and experience with the requisition.
Qualified application goes to the hiring leader.
Initial interview. TGH describes its initial interview approach as behavioral and competency-based.
Technical assessment when applicable. Certain positions may require a technical assessment.
Additional interview or manager review. Depending on the role, all interviews may occur on one day or over several days.
References may be requested. The hiring leader may request professional references before a final hiring decision.
Talent Acquisition communicates the outcome.

What to prepare for references

If requested, TGH recommends having:

  • Reference name.
  • Current employer and title.
  • Business address.
  • Business telephone.
  • Business email.
  • Preferred contact method.
  • Your professional relationship.
  • Length of the relationship.

Can interviews be virtual?

Yes. TGH says interviews may be conducted virtually or by telephone when a candidate cannot reasonably travel to the hospital. Relocation assistance may also be available for selected positions and candidates.

What happens after a conditional TGH job offer?

Tampa General states that applicants receiving a conditional job offer must successfully complete the following employment requirements:

Pre-employment Drug screening

Required after a conditional offer.

Pre-employment Background check

Required before the hiring process is completed.

Eligibility Work authorization

Employment eligibility must be verified.

TGH participates in E-Verify.

Onboarding after clearance

TGH describes onboarding as partially remote: employment documents can be completed virtually while the occupational-health appointment is completed in person.

New hires attend a full-day New Team Member Orientation covering TGH, its Shared Purpose, vision, values, operating model, safety culture, executive discussions and AKTiVe leadership concepts.

Role-specific training follows orientation, and TGH says new employees are surveyed after approximately 30 days and 90 days. Mentorship support is also available to help new team members acclimate.

How long does Tampa General Hospital hiring take?

TGH says the exact timeline varies by role, but its general goal is to provide an applicant with an answer within approximately two weeks.

The two-week figure should be treated as a recruiting target rather than a guaranteed deadline. Licensed clinical positions, senior roles, multiple-interview positions, background review and occupational-health clearance can take different amounts of time.

If you have heard nothing

  1. Sign into Taleo.
  2. Check My Jobpage.
  3. Confirm the application is under Completed Submissions.
  4. Review the current status.
  5. If you still need assistance, contact 813-844-7551.

Tampa General Hospital salary, hourly pay and shift differential information

There is no single official TGH salary table that applies to every job. Pay varies by position, entity, experience, credentials, employment status, specialty, schedule and shift.

The safest way to determine compensation is to read the exact live requisition and discuss the role with Talent Acquisition. Do not assume that salaries shown on third-party employment websites are the hospital’s current offered rate.

Current nursing compensation note

TGH’s official career information currently describes an InterHealth 12-week contract nursing model with a significantly higher base-pay structure than standard employment and additional shift differentials. TGH does not publish one universal hourly dollar amount for those contracts on its general careers page.

Float-pool opportunities can also have different hourly structures and commitments depending on specialty and employment type.

Ask the recruiter: “What is the base range for this requisition, is there a night/weekend differential, is the role benefit-eligible, and is there a sign-on or relocation incentive attached to this specific job?”

Does Tampa General Hospital offer remote jobs?

Yes. TGH states that it hires for both partially remote and fully remote positions where the work can be completed away from a patient-care site.

Examples of functions TGH says can include remote work

  • Patient intake.
  • Medical-record management.
  • Claims administration.
  • Community relations.
  • Selected corporate functions.
  • IT and business functions where permitted by the job.

Corporate career opportunities can also include paid and unpaid internships.

Remote status is job-specific. A role is not automatically remote because another job with a similar title is remote. The individual requisition states whether the position is onsite, hybrid or fully remote.

Military hiring

TGH actively supports veterans and military families and participates in the Hiring Our Heroes fellowship program.

Accumulated Time Off: vacation, sick and holiday leave

TGH uses a combined Accumulated Time Off (ATO) bank instead of completely separate vacation, sick, holiday and personal-leave buckets.

ATO begins accruing from the first day of employment and becomes accessible after 90 days.

Years of service Published full-time ATO accrual
0-3.99 years27 days/year
4-9.99 years32 days/year

Employee pricing Special TGH rates

Official careers page states employee rates are offered.

The main-campus Child Care Center offers literature-based educational programming, secure badge access for parents and dedicated drop-off/pick-up parking.

Childcare capacity can be limited. A job offer does not automatically guarantee immediate childcare placement, so candidates who depend on onsite childcare should ask about current space and enrollment procedures.

Career advancement and professional development

People Development Institute

TGH and the University of South Florida created the People Development Institute (PDI) to provide professional development for employees across clinical and non-clinical career paths.

LEAD program

TGH offers a structured 12-month leadership-development program focusing on mentorship, professional development and community involvement.

Clinical and career ladders

Career ladders help eligible team members map their professional development and build the skills needed for more advanced roles.

Mentorship and training

New hires receive role-specific training. TGH also uses mentorship, leadership development, committee participation and learning opportunities to support longer-term progression.

Accessibility assistance during the hiring process

Tampa General states that it provides accessibility assistance so applicants with disabilities can participate in the hiring process.

If you need an accommodation to complete an application or participate in recruiting, contact People & Talent at 813-844-7551 and explain what part of the application or interview process requires assistance.

Why this guide does not publish a static list of “open jobs today”

Tampa General vacancies can open, close or stop accepting applications quickly. Copying a list of individual requisitions into a permanent article would create stale information and could send applicants to positions that have already closed.

Instead, this guide explains the hiring process, employment categories, benefits, recruiter contacts and application steps in detail while routing live vacancies through TGH’s own job database.
