All three Miami campus parking garages are complimentary.

The Hagerty Family Behavioral Health Unit uses a more restrictive schedule:

  • Visiting: daily, 5 p.m.-7 p.m.

Visitors with symptoms

Do not visit if you have fever, cough, runny nose, rash, vomiting or other signs of infectious illness. Restrictions may tighten when respiratory infections are widespread in the community.

Nicklaus Children’s pediatric surgery services now use the Kenneth C. Griffin Surgical Tower, a five-story surgical facility at the Miami campus near the Emergency Department.

On surgery day, go directly to the Kenneth C. Griffin Surgical Tower for surgical check-in and registration rather than assuming you should start at a general outpatient registration desk.

PASSPort registration

Nicklaus’ current surgery preparation process includes:

  1. Approximately 10 days before surgery, the family may receive a text link to verify the child’s information through the registration platform.
  2. Questions about registration can be directed to Patient Access at (305) 663-8410.
  3. Within approximately seven days of surgery, a pre-admission surgical-screening nurse calls to review the child’s medical history.
  4. On arrival, obtain the required visitor badge and proceed to the Surgical Tower registration/check-in area.

Good Faith Estimate for self-pay/uninsured care

For scheduled non-emergency care, uninsured patients and patients not using insurance have federal Good Faith Estimate rights. Nicklaus notes that:

What the Financial Assistance Program covers

The program evaluates qualifying families based on their financial situation and ability to pay. Assistance generally relates to eligible hospital facility charges and employed physician charges.

Independent doctors are different. Financial assistance from Nicklaus Children’s does not automatically erase balances from private-practice or independently contracted physicians who send their own bill.

Application period

Nicklaus’ billing and collections policy defines the financial-assistance application period as extending until the later of:

  • 240 days after the first post-discharge billing statement, or
  • At least 30 days after certain written collection-action notices, where applicable.

Why might you receive separate bills?

Nicklaus Children’s identifies independently contracted providers who may bill separately from the hospital. Depending on the child’s care, separate charges may come from:
