Hasbro Children’s doctor fees, ER fees and appointment costs
There is no single accurate consultation fee for every Hasbro physician or emergency visit.
Doctor appointment fees
Brown University Health does not publish one universal pediatric specialist consultation fee. What a family pays depends on the service, procedure/visit code, insurance network, deductible, copay, coinsurance and whether hospital and professional services are billed separately.
Emergency Department fees
There is also no single fixed Hasbro Children’s ER fee. Emergency charges may include the hospital emergency-service level plus laboratory testing, imaging, medication, procedures, specialist care or observation when medically needed.
Could there be more than one bill?
Yes. Brown University Health explicitly states that a hospital stay can result in more than one bill. Personal physicians and specialists can bill separately from the hospital.
How to estimate a planned service
Hasbro Children’s is part of Rhode Island Hospital for billing and price-transparency purposes. Brown University Health provides an online hospital cost estimator for medical, surgical, imaging, laboratory and rehabilitation services.
Useful while the child is still admitted or when discussing hospital charges.
Billing questions and itemized bill requests.
Brown University Health’s published imaging-charge contact.
Use for scheduled services; an estimate is not the same as a final bill.
Billing, insurance and financial assistance
Billing after discharge
Hours: Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
Use this number for hospital billing questions or to request an itemized statement.
Insurance
Bring the child’s current insurance information and the parent/guardian photo ID. Brown University Health bills insurance first and then bills the patient/family for remaining covered responsibility such as deductibles, copays or coinsurance.
Because insurance networks and referral rules differ by plan, verify that both the facility and relevant physician/specialty group are in network for scheduled care.
Financial assistance
Rhode Island Hospital states that patients who do not have insurance or who demonstrate financial hardship may qualify for free or discounted care. Patient Financial Services can help with financial-assistance applications and payment arrangements.
Families whose child is still hospitalized can also ask the care team or social-work service to connect them with financial counseling and community resources.
