Weapons screening

Banner Estrella currently uses a weapons-detection system. Patients and visitors are screened when entering campus buildings.

Individual care areas—including intensive care, maternity and neonatal care—may apply additional restrictions depending on the patient’s condition, infection-control precautions and unit safety requirements.

Banner ICU guidance

Banner’s general intensive-care guidance normally limits ICU visitation to immediate family, generally two visitors at one time. Banner also asks visitors to avoid ICU shift-change periods from approximately 7-8:30 a.m. and 7-8:30 p.m.. The bedside nurse can further limit visitation when medically necessary.

Flowers in ICU

Banner’s critical-care guidance does not allow live flowers or plants in ICU patient rooms because of infection and respiratory concerns.

Ill visitors

Do not visit if you have fever, cough, vomiting, diarrhea or another potentially contagious illness.
