ER fees

Northwest Community Hospital does not publish one universal Emergency Department case fee. Charges depend on the level of emergency evaluation and services actually needed, including testing, X-rays, CT or MRI, medication, procedures, specialist consultation, observation or inpatient admission.

The Pediatric Acute Care Center evaluates acute illness and injuries in infants, children and teens. Because it is directly connected with the Emergency Department, children requiring higher-level emergency evaluation can be escalated quickly.

Why the EDAP designation matters

The Emergency Department Approved for Pediatrics designation means the emergency department meets Illinois requirements related to pediatric equipment, policies, staffing and readiness.

NCH provides anesthesia and neonatology services around the clock during maternity care. Labor rooms include support tools such as labor balls, peanut balls and squatting bars.

Mother-Baby unit

• Visiting hours: 8 a.m.-8 p.m. daily
• Overnight support: one adult support person
• Visitors: up to four at one time during visiting hours
• Age restriction: none listed in the current hospital policy

Level III NICU

Northwest Community Hospital operates a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit capable of caring for premature newborns and critically ill infants of any gestational age.

Board-certified neonatologists and specially trained neonatal nurses provide 24-hour on-site care.

Pre-register for delivery

Maternity patients can pre-register through NCH MyChart. If you have previously received care at NCH but do not have a portal account, call 847-618-3775, Monday-Friday from 8 a.m.-6 p.m., for account setup assistance.

Doctor visit fee

There is no single NCH physician consultation fee. A cardiology appointment, neurology consultation, cancer visit, OB/GYN appointment and orthopedic evaluation can all have different professional and facility charges.

ER case fee

There is no single published ER case fee. Emergency charges depend on the patient’s condition and the tests and treatment required.

Oasis Food Court

Food choices include hot entrées, soups, salads, sandwiches, pizza and burgers.

Located near the North Pavilion entrance, close to the Busse Center for Specialty Medicine.

Patients can use the Treat Yourself room-service program from 6:30 a.m.-6:30 p.m..

Northwest Community Hospital provides interpretation services 24 hours a day, seven days a week at no personal cost to the patient.

If interpretation is needed for an appointment, procedure, discharge instructions or consent discussion, tell the care team or scheduling office before the visit when possible.
