Where to park for the ER

Under normal access conditions, the Emergency Department/Urgent Care parking garage is at 3401 Burnet Avenue, next to the emergency entrance. Emergency visitors can enter through the automatic gates and use the nearest available emergency parking space.

Cincinnati Children’s asks families with scheduled appointments to use the regular Visitor Garage instead so the limited emergency spaces remain available for urgent patients.

Current temporary route: through September 30, 2026, the Emergency/Urgent Care drive is closed. Use the main Burnet visitor garage, park on Level P4 and follow the temporary hospital signs to the Emergency/Urgent Care entrance.

What happens if a child is admitted from the ER?

Under normal parking operations, if the child is admitted after an Emergency Department visit, Cincinnati Children’s asks the family to move the vehicle from limited emergency parking to the main Visitor Garage.

Emergency room fees

Cincinnati Children’s does not publish one fixed dollar amount that represents every pediatric emergency visit. An ER bill can vary because of:

  • Emergency physician evaluation
  • Facility services
  • Laboratory testing
  • X-ray, CT, MRI or ultrasound
  • Medication
  • Procedures
  • Specialist consultation
  • Observation or hospital admission
  • Insurance deductible, copay and coinsurance
Never delay urgently needed emergency care to obtain a price estimate.

How to make an appointment at Cincinnati Children’s

Choose the specialty or service. Cincinnati Children’s has separate specialty scheduling lines as well as a main Scheduling Center.
Call 513-636-3200 for general scheduling. The central phone line is available Monday through Friday, 7:30 am–5:30 pm.
Use online scheduling when the specialty supports it. New-patient online scheduling currently includes several specialties such as cardiology, gastroenterology, neurology, endocrinology, urology, ophthalmology, otolaryngology and general surgery.
Confirm referral and insurance authorization. A clinical referral and an insurance prior authorization are separate requirements. Ask both the specialty clinic and insurer if you are unsure.
Confirm the exact location. Cincinnati Children’s specialists often practice at Burnet and regional clinics.
Bring prior records when the specialty requests them. For example, Cardiology specifically asks families to bring available prior medical records.

Cincinnati Children’s doctors and pediatric specialists

Cincinnati Children’s reported 1,919 active medical staff in FY2025, so a static page containing every physician and every daily clinic slot would quickly become outdated. The tables below bring current names from several of the hospital’s most searched specialty teams into this guide, together with the direct scheduling number.

How to confirm a doctor’s actual day and time: use Cincinnati Children’s live scheduling tool or call the specialty directly. Clinic days can change because of surgery, inpatient service, research, leave and satellite clinic rotations.

Appointment fees, ER costs and official price estimates

Cincinnati Children’s publishes hospital transparency files and provides an estimator for many shoppable services, but there is no single correct dollar amount for “Cincinnati Children’s doctor fee” or “Cincinnati Children’s emergency fee.”

Why doctor appointment prices differ

  • Specialty and visit type
  • New patient vs. follow-up
  • Tests or procedures performed at the visit
  • Hospital/facility charges when applicable
  • Insurance network status
  • Copay
  • Deductible
  • Coinsurance

How to request a real estimate

Ask the referring physician for the service description or CPT code. This helps the estimate team identify the correct service.
Have the insurance plan name ready.
Call Cincinnati Children’s Billing Customer Service. Phone 513-636-4427 or toll-free 877-430-8495, then select the estimate option.
Or use the hospital’s Guest Estimate feature. A MyChart login is not required for the estimate feature.
Federal hospital price transparency rules also require Cincinnati Children’s to publish standard-charge data and information for shoppable services. These published hospital prices should not be interpreted as the amount every family will personally owe.

Video visit fees

Cincinnati Children’s states that a video visit can often cost the same as an in-person visit. Normal copay, coinsurance and deductible requirements may apply depending on the insurance plan.

Insurance accepted at Cincinnati Children’s

Cincinnati Children’s contracts with many commercial and Medicaid plans, but the hospital warns that its published list is not a guarantee of coverage. Families should verify the exact benefit plan with the insurer.

Common commercial plans listed by Cincinnati Children’s

Aetna
Anthem Blue Cross & Blue Shield
Cigna
Medical Mutual of Ohio
UnitedHealthcare of Ohio

  • AmeriHealth Caritas Ohio
  • Anthem

Important network warning: Cincinnati Children’s currently identifies several non-contracted plans and payors. Marketplace, Medicare Advantage, employer and managed-care participation can differ by product. Always verify the exact plan before non-emergency care.

If your plan is not listed

  1. Ask the child’s primary-care/referring physician whether a referral is needed.
  2. Call the insurer’s Member Services.
  3. Ask whether an exception or single-case authorization is available.
  4. When employer-sponsored, contact HR if necessary.
