Useful direct scheduling numbers

Appointment process

Identify the service. Know the child’s diagnosis, symptoms or the specialty requested by the referring provider.
Call the general or specialty scheduling number. Direct specialty numbers can reduce unnecessary transfers.
Have insurance and referral information ready. Some plans require referrals or prior authorization even when Cincinnati Children’s allows direct scheduling.
Confirm the location. Cincinnati Children’s physicians practice at Burnet, Liberty and multiple neighborhood centers.
Ask for a particular physician by name if needed. Ask which campus the doctor will be at and the next available clinic date.
Confirm arrival time. Some specialty services ask families to arrive before the stated appointment time for registration, imaging or testing.
Example: Pediatric General and Thoracic Surgery asks families to allow about 30 minutes before the appointment—approximately 15 minutes to park/walk and 15 minutes to check in.

Cincinnati Children’s Emergency Department: Burnet and Liberty

Cincinnati Children’s operates two 24-hour pediatric emergency departments.

Emergency Department Address Phone Hours
Burnet Campus ER 3401 Burnet Ave., Cincinnati, OH 45229 513-636-4200 24 hours daily, 365 days/year
Liberty Campus ER 7777 Yankee Rd., Building A, Liberty Township, OH 45044 513-636-3200 24 hours daily, 365 days/year

Which ER should you use?

The Burnet Campus includes the region’s only Level I pediatric trauma center and is the main campus for highly complex inpatient and subspecialty pediatric care. Liberty’s ER can handle most pediatric emergencies and can coordinate transfer to Burnet when a child requires services that are concentrated at the main campus.

Temporary Burnet ER access through September 30, 2026

The normal Burnet Emergency/Urgent Care drive is temporarily closed. Park in the main Burnet visitor garage, level P4. Follow the posted signs out of the garage and directly to the Emergency/Urgent Care entrance.

Questions after an ER visit

Cincinnati Children’s advises families with medical questions after an ER visit to call 513-636-4293 within 24 hours of discharge. After 24 hours, contact the child’s pediatrician for ongoing medical questions.

Emergency fees

Cincinnati Children’s does not publish one universal emergency “case fee.” The cost depends on the level of evaluation and services actually required, such as physician care, laboratory testing, X-rays, CT/MRI, medication, procedures, consultations or hospital admission.

Price estimates should never delay emergency treatment. For immediately serious illness or injury, call 911 or go to an emergency department.

Cincinnati Children’s Urgent Care hours

Urgent Care is for problems that need prompt attention but are not immediately life-threatening.

Cincinnati Children’s doctors and pediatric specialists

The medical center has a very large medical staff, so this section focuses on named leaders and subspecialists in major pediatric programs plus the correct scheduling number.

Doctor schedules: Cincinnati Children’s publishes physician names, specialties and locations, but most individual doctors do not have a permanent public Monday-to-Sunday timetable. Clinic sessions change because of surgery, inpatient service, procedures, conferences and leave. Call scheduling and request the doctor by name for the current day, campus and appointment time.
