Children’s Dallas Hospital: Pediatric Care & Info

The Dallas ER is part of the only pediatric Level I Trauma Center in North Texas. Children’s Health says the renovated Emergency Department now contains more than 70 exam rooms, including specialized dental and ophthalmology rooms, behavioral-health rooms and four trauma rooms.

ER visitors

The current Children’s Health visitor policy allows no more than two people in the ER room with the patient at one time. The ER does not use the regular inpatient 7 a.m.-10 p.m. visiting schedule.

A Children’s Health PM Pediatric Urgent Care location is also located on the Dallas campus at 5060 Southwestern Medical Avenue.

Children’s Health describes the center as the largest childhood cancer and blood-disorders center in North Texas. It treats approximately one in five Texas children diagnosed with cancer.

NICU visitor rules

• Up to three people at the bedside at one time.
• Up to four support people may be identified.
• Up to two designated caregivers are allowed.
• Only one designated caregiver may stay overnight.
• Visitors must currently be age 3 or older.

PICU

Up to two designated caregivers can stay overnight in the PICU. Visitors must currently be at least age 3. Families are asked to remain in patient rooms or waiting areas during 7-7:30 a.m. and 7-7:30 p.m. shift handoffs.

Children’s Medical Center Dallas provides advanced pediatric organ transplantation, including:

• Parents, guardians and adult visitors must show government-issued ID for visitor identification.
• Minors accompanied by an adult are not required to show ID.
• People entering facilities undergo enhanced security screening.
• Visitors with symptoms of contagious illness are not permitted.

Fastest route for many records

Many records can be requested through MyChart at no charge. If the record cannot be obtained in MyChart, families can submit a formal request in person, by mail or fax. Copy charges can apply to some non-portal requests.

Independent professional charges

Children’s Health notes that independent-provider fees may be billed separately from hospital charges. Families should confirm both hospital and physician-network participation with their insurer.
