Where to park for the ER
Families should park on level P1 of the Forest Garage and take the elevator directly up to the Emergency Department. If the child needs immediate access, the hospital allows curbside stopping in the Emergency Department driveway while the patient is brought inside.

Seattle Children’s treats babies, children, teens and some young adults with cancers and blood disorders including leukemia, lymphoma, brain and spinal tumors, bone tumors, neuroblastoma, kidney and liver tumors, sarcoma, sickle cell disease, thalassemia, anemia and other complex hematologic conditions.
For some cancers, the center treats young adults up to age 30. The program also provides second opinions and care coordination for out-of-region and international families.

Who can come to the Surgery Center?
Current Seattle Children’s visitation guidance allows up to two parents or adult caregivers to come to the Surgery Center and be with the child before and after the procedure. A sibling younger than 1 may come and does not count toward that total. Other siblings are generally not allowed unless they are an adult designated caregiver.

- Follow the surgical team’s current food/drink instructions exactly.
- Bring insurance and identification information.

Clinic, Urgent Care and Emergency Department
Seattle Children’s recommends bringing only one parent or adult caregiver when possible, but current policy permits up to four people with the patient for clinic, Urgent Care or ED visits. Siblings younger than 1 year do not count toward the four-person total.
Hospitalized patients

Seattle Children’s does not publish one universal pediatric consultation fee or one flat ER charge for every patient.
Why a doctor visit can have more than one charge
Seattle Children’s explains that hospital-based outpatient clinics may bill a facility charge in addition to professional services. A specialist visit may therefore involve physician/provider services plus hospital-clinic facility costs.

Most insurance plans do not require pre-authorization simply for a specialty consultation, but plans may require authorization for tests, therapies or procedures.
