Why one visit can produce several bills
Dayton Children’s specifically warns families that an Emergency Department visit can generate multiple bills depending on the services used. These can include the hospital facility bill plus separate charges from the attending physician, radiology providers, ambulance service or other independent professionals.
Can include rooms, nursing, supplies, testing, medications and procedures.
Some physicians and affiliated clinicians bill separately.
Deductible, copay, coinsurance and network rules affect what the family owes.
TEAMHealth ER physician bills
Dayton Children’s currently states that families with a separate TEAMHealth provider-services bill from an Emergency Department visit should contact TEAMHealth at 888-952-6772.
How to estimate planned care
Insurance, copays, billing and payment options
Dayton Children’s participates with many health plans, but a physician may not participate with exactly the same plans as the hospital.
Current Dayton Children’s provider profiles commonly display plans such as Aetna, Anthem, CareSource, Cigna, Humana, Ohio Medicaid, Medical Mutual of Ohio, Molina Healthcare, TRICARE and UnitedHealthcare, among others. The exact plan product and provider should still be verified before care.
Copays
Dayton Children’s collects applicable copays at the time of service. Families should bring the current insurance card and a payment method to scheduled visits.
