Because this is a children’s hospital, parents and caregivers are treated as an important part of the child’s care team.
Visitor identification
Adult visitors entering ACH are asked for identification so the hospital can create a visitor badge linked to the patient. The hospital says an ID is requested but is not absolutely required; information can be entered manually when necessary.

Inpatient family access
Parents/guardians of minor patients are encouraged to spend as much time at the hospital as possible. In non-critical private rooms, Arkansas Children’s currently does not set a fixed number of family members/visitors as long as the number of visitors does not interfere with the patient’s care, medical needs, safety or privacy.
A parent may designate another person age 18 or older to support the child when the parent cannot be present.
Critical-care visitation
NICU, PICU and CVICU have additional infection-control and bedside rules. Families should not visit when experiencing fever, cough, sore throat, vomiting, diarrhea or other recent viral symptoms.
