Birth certificate customization

Current BabyLand Exclusive products allow buyers to customize the Cabbage Patch Kid’s name and birth date on the birth certificate when that option is available.

Bath Camp is for eligible hand-stitched Original Little People and Original Cabbage Patch Kids with fabric “skin.” BabyLand does not accept ordinary vinyl-head/body Cabbage Patch Kids from many mass-market manufacturers for this service.

The hospital concept goes back to Cabbage Patch Kids creator Xavier Roberts.

In 1976, Roberts began experimenting with soft-sculpture techniques. By 1978 he was exhibiting handmade Little People and organized Original Appalachian Artworks, Inc.

Roberts and colleagues renovated the former L.G. Neal Clinic, a turn-of-the-century Cleveland medical facility, and opened the original BabyLand General Hospital to the public.

That real-clinic history helped shape the fictional “hospital,” “birth” and “adoption” terminology that continues today, even though the current BabyLand facility is a purpose-built visitor attraction and retail destination rather than a healthcare provider.
