Cincinnati Children’s MyChart Login, Parent Access, Records, Appointments & Billing

Cincinnati Children’s uses MyChart as its secure patient portal for medical information, appointments, test results, medications, immunizations, billing, documents and communication with eligible outpatient care teams.

This guide explains the actual steps parents, caregivers and patients need: how to sign in, request an account, add a child, recover access, use two-step verification, view test results, request records, pay bills, schedule follow-up care and contact the correct Cincinnati Children’s department when MyChart cannot solve the problem.

Do not use MyChart for an emergency. Cincinnati Children’s directs patients with a medical emergency to call 911 or go to an emergency department. MyChart messages are not an emergency-response service.

How to log in to Cincinnati Children’s MyChart

Use the Cincinnati Children’s MyChart portal rather than a generic Epic/MyChart search result so that you sign into the correct health-system account.

Open the Cincinnati Children’s MyChart login page. The sign-in screen asks for your MyChart Username or Epic ID and password.
Enter your MyChart username and password. Parents should log into their own account rather than sharing the child’s or another parent’s credentials.
Complete two-step verification. Cincinnati Children’s MyChart sends a verification code by text message or email when additional authentication is required.
Switch to your child’s record. After proxy access has been approved, use the patient/family switch menu to select the child whose information you want to view.
Mobile tip: Cincinnati Children’s recommends text-message delivery for two-step verification when signing in from a smartphone because newer phones can often recognize and copy the code automatically.

Forgot your Cincinnati Children’s MyChart username or password?

The official MyChart login screen provides a “Forgot login information?” option below the username/password fields. Start there before creating another account.

Forgot username
Use the recovery option on the official MyChart login page.
Forgot password
Use the password-reset option rather than requesting a second account.
Activation code expired
Cincinnati Children’s says activation codes remain valid for 45 days. If yours expires, request a new code at a Cincinnati Children’s clinic.
Valid code will not work
Call MyChart Technical Support at 513-636-5019 or 877-508-7607.
Multiple Cincinnati MyChart IDs
Do not continue creating accounts. Technical Support can help consolidate or resolve duplicate Cincinnati Children’s MyChart access.

How to create a Cincinnati Children’s MyChart account

Cincinnati Children’s offers both online and in-person enrollment. New accounts cannot be created by phone for security reasons.

Online account request

The patient must already be established at Cincinnati Children’s. The online request process is for patients who already have a Cincinnati Children’s medical record.
Select the correct access request. Parents/caregivers request access to a child; eligible patients can request their own account.
Complete the identity information. The online form asks for identifying and contact information including an email address.
Securely upload valid photo identification. Cincinnati Children’s will not review an online account request without acceptable identification.
Allow up to seven business days for review. If approved, an activation code is sent through secure email.

Accepted photo ID for online enrollment

Accepted examples

  • Driver’s license
  • Passport
  • State-issued identity card
  • School ID for patients ages 13–17

Not accepted

  • Theme-park passes
  • A basic photograph without valid ID
No photo ID? Cincinnati Children’s says you may request MyChart access in person at one of its locations. An appointment is not required just to request the account.

In-person signup

Ask registration staff at a Cincinnati Children’s clinic or neighborhood location, or visit the Family Resource Center. Cincinnati Children’s states that an appointment is not required for in-person MyChart registration.

Activation email still missing? Cincinnati Children’s asks users to allow roughly 7–10 business days for an online request. If more than 10 business days have passed, call 513-636-5019 or 877-508-7607.

Parent and caregiver proxy access to a child’s MyChart

Proxy access is the system Cincinnati Children’s uses so a parent can use their own login to view an eligible child’s record.

Parents should not share one MyChart account. Cincinnati Children’s says each parent who needs access should have their own MyChart account.

How to add a child after proxy access is approved

Log in to your own MyChart account.
Look for the proxy-access notification. The home page may state that you were approved to see the patient’s record.
Select “Review Access.”
Enter the child’s date of birth.
Read and accept the proxy agreement, then confirm.
Switch into the child’s chart. Use the patient/family switch control near the top of MyChart.

Adding another child to an existing account

In MyChart, open the menu, go to the Settings area and choose Add Child to Your Account. Each child remains a separate medical record even though the parent can access them from one login.

Who generally can and cannot receive proxy access?

Situation Current Cincinnati Children’s rule
Biological/adoptive parent of patient under 18 May request parent/primary caregiver access.
Two parents both need access Each should use a separate personal MyChart account.
Patient age 13 or older May request their own MyChart account.
Patient younger than 12 Cincinnati Children’s states they cannot have their own account.
Foster parent / temporary custody MyChart proxy access is not granted for temporary-custody situations.
Adult patient age 18+ Parent access normally ends unless the adult patient grants adult proxy access or ongoing legal guardianship requirements are met.

Teen MyChart access and what changes at age 18

Cincinnati Children’s allows patients age 13 and older to request their own MyChart account. This is separate from a parent’s proxy login.

When the patient turns 18

Standard parent/primary caregiver proxy access ends when the patient becomes an adult. An adult patient can give another person, such as a parent or spouse, access through an Adult Proxy Access arrangement.

Cincinnati Children’s states that this normal adult proxy access expires every 18 months and must be renewed by the patient.

Adult patient with diminished capacity

Continued parent/guardian access can be available when Cincinnati Children’s receives appropriate proof of ongoing legal guardianship. The hospital describes acceptable guardianship evidence as legal documentation signed by a judge or magistrate.

Questions about guardianship access can be directed to Health Information Management at 513-636-4217.

Two-step verification and “Trust Device”

Cincinnati Children’s MyChart requires multi-factor/two-factor authentication in addition to the username and password.

How verification works

MyChart sends a security code to the email address or mobile number connected with the account. Enter that code on the verification screen to continue.

Trust Device

On a personal computer, phone or tablet, Cincinnati Children’s states that selecting Trust Device can allow MyChart to remember that browser/device for up to 365 days.

Do not select Trust Device on a public or shared computer. Cincinnati Children’s specifically recommends using this feature only on a personal device or browser.

Verification code did not arrive

  1. Check spam or junk mail.
  2. Select Resend Code.
  3. Check whether another email address may be stored on the account.
  4. If the problem continues, call MyChart Technical Support at 513-636-5019.

Appointment scheduling phone hours

Cincinnati Children’s main scheduling page currently lists Monday through Friday, 7:30 am–5:30 pm for the central appointment number 513-636-3200.

Pre-Visit Update

MyChart’s Pre-Visit Update becomes available approximately five days before the appointment. Families can review or update items such as:

  • Contact information
  • Medications
  • Allergies
  • Health issues
  • Documents that need to be signed

This does not completely replace check-in. Cincinnati Children’s still directs families to a registration representative when they arrive.

Doctors, provider availability and MyChart messages

MyChart is useful for established care relationships, but it is not a live roster of every Cincinnati Children’s physician or every doctor’s working shift.

Can MyChart show doctor appointment availability?

For current patients, available scheduling options may appear for an existing provider. Exact physician clinic days and appointment slots change, so MyChart or the specialty scheduling team is the appropriate source for the date you want.

Why this page does not invent doctor schedules: Cincinnati Children’s has a large pediatric specialist network. A static article cannot safely claim that a particular physician is available every Monday, Tuesday or Friday unless the hospital itself publishes that recurring schedule.

Who can you message through MyChart?

Cincinnati Children’s states that MyChart messaging is generally available for outpatient providers the patient has seen within the previous three years.

Providers you generally cannot message from MyChart

  • Emergency Department providers
  • Urgent Care providers
  • CincyKids Connect providers
  • Providers seen only during a hospital admission

For questions after one of those encounters, Cincinnati Children’s advises contacting the child’s primary care provider or the appropriate clinical team.

Do not send an urgent medical problem as a portal message. Use emergency care when the situation requires immediate attention.

How to view Cincinnati Children’s test results in MyChart

Open MyChart and select the correct patient.
Select the Test Results quick link. You can also find Test Results under My Record.
Select the individual test. Tap or click its row to open available details.
If results seem missing, select “Show All Test Results.”

Why a result may not appear

  • The laboratory/test may not be complete yet.
  • The result may not yet be available in the electronic record.
  • Some results stored as PDF documents cannot be displayed directly in MyChart. Cincinnati Children’s specifically lists hearing tests, sleep studies and DEXA scans as examples.

Downloading results

Open the result, choose the trends/comparison view when available, then use the download control. Cincinnati Children’s notes that imaging test results such as X-ray or MRI cannot be downloaded through this MyChart process.

Need help interpreting a result? MyChart Technical Support handles technical problems; it does not interpret clinical test results. Contact the child’s medical provider for medical interpretation.

Request complete medical records through MyChart

MyChart provides substantial record access, but it is not always the same as obtaining the complete legal medical record.

Request records inside MyChart

Select the child from the friends/family menu.
Search the menu for “Medical Record Request.”
Complete the request for the records you actually need.

Paperless statements

Cincinnati Children’s moved to paperless statements on May 7, 2024. Users who still want mailed statements can change Paperless Preferences in the Billing section of MyChart.

Why is a balance missing? Cincinnati Children’s says MyChart reflects self-pay balances. Charges still pending with insurance may not appear as the patient balance. Billing Customer Service can answer questions about total charges submitted to insurance.

Financial assistance through Cincinnati Children’s

Cincinnati Children’s allows families to complete a Financial Assistance Application through MyChart.

Current published eligibility rule: Cincinnati Children’s states that patients with family income at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level, when eligibility requirements are satisfied, qualify for free medically necessary care covered by the policy through a 100% discount.
Financial Assistance phone 513-636-4427
Email FFA@cchmc.org
Hours Monday–Friday, 7:30 am–5:00 pm

Eligibility depends on the hospital’s current policy and the services involved. Some professionals who provide care at Cincinnati Children’s but bill independently may not be covered by the hospital’s financial assistance policy.

Emergency care: what to use instead of MyChart

Cincinnati Children’s provides pediatric emergency care 24 hours a day, 365 days a year at both the Burnet and Liberty campuses.

Burnet Campus Emergency Room

3401 Burnet Ave
Cincinnati, OH 45229

Phone: 513-636-4200

Liberty Township, OH 45044

Emergency contact listed: 513-636-3200

Emergency care: Open 24/7, 365 days

Current Burnet access update: As checked August 22, 2026, Cincinnati Children’s says the Burnet Emergency Department/Urgent Care drive is temporarily closed through September 30. Families are directed to park in the main Burnet visitor garage on Level P4 and follow posted signs to the Emergency/Urgent Care entrance.

Emergency charges depend on the care, tests, imaging, medications, procedures, insurance plan and patient circumstances. Cincinnati Children’s does not publish one universal “ER fee” that represents every emergency visit, so a single fixed emergency price should not be assumed.

Two primary support people, usually parents, can have 24/7 access under the current general inpatient policy. Unit-specific restrictions can still apply.

Arriving after 8:30 pm

Cincinnati Children’s directs overnight visitors arriving after 8:30 pm to use Location B, because other inpatient entrances are locked overnight.

Official Cincinnati Children’s information used

The practical details above were checked against Cincinnati Children’s own MyChart, medical-record, appointment, billing, emergency, parking and patient-resource pages. The information is summarized in this guide so families do not need to open multiple hospital pages merely to understand the process.
