19 Doctors Way, Blairsville.
For pregnancy-related after-hours concerns; call 911 for life-threatening emergencies.
Labor unit setup
The women’s unit has four labor/delivery/recovery rooms, one triage area for outpatient testing or observation, a dedicated operating room for cesarean delivery and a post-anesthesia recovery area.
Labor visitors
Union General currently allows three visitors at a time with a patient in labor. Visitors may rotate. Children under age 12 are generally not allowed unless they are siblings of the newborn. The unit remains locked and visitors must use the entrance buzzer.
Pregnancy after-hours routing
Routine pregnancy billing
Union General Women’s Health explains that uncomplicated prenatal care may be billed as a global obstetric package covering routine prenatal visits, delivery and the six-week postpartum visit. The initial detailed evaluation, laboratory tests, fetal testing, ultrasounds, hospital charges and medically necessary visits outside the routine schedule can be billed separately.
MRI, CT, mammography and radiology
Union General offers a broad range of imaging on the Blairsville hospital campus.
Available imaging
- Mammography
- Bone-density testing
- CT scans
- MRI
- Ultrasound
- Echocardiograms
- Nuclear medicine
- PET/CT
Union General states its mammography program is certified by the American College of Radiology and FDA, and its imaging technologists hold relevant ARRT or ARDMS credentials.
Scheduling imaging
Scheduled imaging generally requires a provider order. Once the order is received, call 706-439-6450 if the scheduling team has not contacted you within two business days.
Laboratory services and test results
The hospital provides routine clinical laboratory testing and transfusion support.
Lab services include
- Specimen collection
- Routine clinical testing
- Analytical testing
- Serologic testing
- Transfusion-related laboratory services
- Send-out specialty testing when a test is not performed locally
Doctor fees, ER charges and hospital price estimates
The hospital publishes 2026 price-transparency data, but chargemaster prices are not the same as the amount a patient ultimately owes.
Union General publishes a current hospital chargemaster and patient-facing estimator.
Ask for Financial Counseling / Central Business Office.
What the hospital price file does not include
Union General explicitly states that its hospital pricing list does not include physician professional charges, including charges from:
- Office-visit physicians
- Surgeons
- Anesthesiologists
- Emergency-room physicians
- Radiologists
- Pathologists
- Consulting physicians
Why there is no one ER fee
An emergency visit can include a facility charge plus separate professional services, laboratory testing, imaging, medicines, procedures, supplies and an inpatient stay if admission is required. Therefore, a single “ER price” would be misleading.
Why there is no one doctor fee
Physician charges can vary by specialty, new versus established patient status, complexity, procedure performed and insurance network status. The hospital’s posted CDM does not establish a universal doctor consultation price.
Best way to estimate planned care
- Use Union General’s official patient-facing estimator for an eligible scheduled service.
- Ask whether the estimate includes only hospital charges or also professional fees.
- Call your insurer to confirm deductible, copay and coinsurance.
- Verify whether the surgeon, anesthesiologist and radiologist are in-network.
- Ask Financial Counseling about self-pay terms if you do not have insurance.
Financial assistance: who may qualify?
Union General has a formal charity-care and discounted-care policy for eligible medically necessary services.
Monday-Friday: 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. ET
Email: CBO-UGH@uniongeneral.org
Current income thresholds in the posted policy
| Household income | Current policy treatment |
|---|---|
| At or below 125% of Federal Poverty Guidelines | Free eligible care under the policy. |
| Above 125% through 400% of Federal Poverty Guidelines | Discounted eligible care using a sliding scale. |
| Above 400% | Patients with catastrophic or unusual financial hardship may still be evaluated individually. |
Examples from the sliding scale
| Income range | Maximum patient responsibility stated as % of AGB |
|---|---|
| ≤125% FPG | 0% |
| >125%-150% | 10% |
| >150%-175% | 15% |
| >175%-200% | 20% |
| >200%-225% | 25% |
| >225%-275% | 40% |
| >275%-300% | 50% |
| >300%-325% | 60% |
| >325%-350% | 70% |
| >350%-375% | 80% |
| >375%-400% | 90% |
“AGB” means amounts generally billed. The policy states qualifying patients are not billed more than the applicable amount generally billed for eligible emergency or medically necessary care.
Services covered by the policy
The policy identifies emergency medical services and qualifying non-elective, medically necessary care as eligible categories. Purely cosmetic and elective services are excluded.
Documents the hospital may request
- Recent wage or employer statements
- Tax return
- Unemployment information
- Social Security or disability documentation
- Recent bank statements
- Proof of residency
- Information about household expenses
- Information about assets when applicable
Application timing
The posted policy gives patients up to 240 days after the first post-discharge bill to submit a financial-assistance application. Collection activity can begin earlier if no application or payment arrangement is made, so patients should contact Financial Counseling as early as possible.
Insurance accepted by Union General Hospital
The health system contracts with most common carriers but specifically warns that not every plan or product is in-network.
Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
Union General publishes current plan-summary documents, but insurance contracts can change. The hospital therefore recommends verifying the exact plan before scheduled care.
Before a scheduled procedure, ask your insurer
- Is Union General Hospital, Blairsville in-network for my exact plan?
- Is the doctor or surgeon in-network?
- Is prior authorization required?
- Is a referral required?
- What deductible remains?
- What copay or coinsurance applies?
- Will anesthesiology, radiology, pathology or another physician group bill separately?
Billing, online payment and account questions
The Central Business Office handles hospital billing, financial counseling and collection questions.
Mon-Fri, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
The hospital asks patients to allow at least 24 hours for an email response.
Pay by mail

How to request records
My Patient Visit portal

Daily general visitor window.

Calling a patient room
Call 706-439-6400 and enter the patient’s room number when prompted.
Tobacco policy
Union General Hospital is a tobacco-free facility and campus. Smoking and smokeless tobacco are prohibited on hospital grounds.
Parking, drop-off and campus navigation
The hospital maintains on-site patient and visitor parking around the Blairsville campus.
The current official patient pages provide hospital campus maps and point-to-point maps, but they do not publish a universal parking fee or valet price. Because no current official parking charge is stated, this guide does not invent one.
Before arriving
- Use 35 Hospital Road for the main hospital.
- Follow Emergency Department signs for urgent emergency care.
- Check your appointment paperwork because many Union General specialty clinics are in nearby separate buildings.
- Ask the main desk or Public Safety if you need accessible parking or help locating an entrance.

The published pharmacy information describes an inpatient hospital pharmacy, not a public retail drugstore.
A pharmacist is on-site or on call around the clock.

Public Safety, valuables and chaplain support
Hospital security operates continuously.
Main hospital: 706-745-2111.
For non-emergency hospital safety concerns.
Union General Public Safety is an in-house licensed security operation. For immediate threats or community emergencies, call 911.
Patient valuables
The hospital maintains secure storage for valuables. Patients are encouraged to use it for money, jewelry or other valuable property rather than leaving those items unsecured in a room.
Chaplaincy
A chaplain is on duty daily. Weekday chaplains make requested patient visits; weekend chaplains are available for emergencies. Ask nursing staff if you would like spiritual support.
